Scott Bishop is Director, Next-Gen Aircraft Programs & Advanced Manufacturing Strategy for Spirit AeroSystems, Inc.
Bishop leads all activities to prepare the company technically and programmatically for the next commercial aircraft programs, as well as developing and implementing the company’s advanced manufacturing strategy across Spirit’s Commercial, Defense & Space, and Aftermarket businesses.
He joined Spirit in November 2016, serving in various leadership positions in Spirit’s Research & Technology organization, and most recently as Chief of Staff to Spirit President & CEO, Tom Gentile.
Prior to Spirit, Bishop began his career an officer in the U.S. Navy, including positions as a Program Manager at the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and as a Fellow in the Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group.
He deployed to the Western Pacific on board the Guided-Missile Destroyer USS Kidd, and to Afghanistan as the NRO Liaison to Afghanistan. After eight years of active duty, Bishop transitioned to the U.S. Navy Reserve, where he continues to serve, and returned home to Wichita, Kan., as District Director for then-U.S. Rep. Mike Pompeo until joining Spirit in 2016.
Bishop holds a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering from the United States Naval Academy, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
