Bret is currently a Boeing 737 captain and has also been an Alaska Airlines 737 check airman and technical pilot in the past. He is now the Director of Flight Operations Engineering and Fleet Technology at Alaska Airlines, leading the airline’s performance engineers, RNP and ACARS engineers, and technical pilots. His department oversees the airline’s weight and balance program, Boeing and Airbus performance programs, Alaska’s iPad EFB program, the proprietary Alaska Airlines RNP satellite navigation program, and the DataComm and ACARS programs. The department Bret leads also maintains the Alaska Airlines avionics roadmap and is charged with evaluation of emerging flight deck technologies and development of the connected aircraft concept at Alaska Airlines.
Bret is a retired US Air Force Reservist, having served more than 21 years on active duty and in the Air Force Reserve. He has worked for Alaska Airlines for 22 years and lives and works in the Seattle area.
